Today I wanted to take a moment to just chat about my Twitch Channel and where it is heading in 2018.
Last year I experimented a lot on Twitch, primarily with VODCasting, and since I received affiliate status back in August 2017 I took a bit of time trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my channel. It’s a weird feeling because I never aspired to be a Twitch partner, or a full time streamer for that matter, but after receiving affiliate status and getting a sub button I felt the need to take a step back to re-evaluate my channel and figure out a more solid plan. Lucky for me work got insanely busy from September up until I went on holiday break at the end of December so I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted to do.
First up was a nice branding refresh! I knew I wanted to clean up my overlays and info panels –still keeping the bright colors but giving a more minimal / night mode approach. I also redid my little logo (at the same time I created a similar style logo for this very blog) to ensure everything was cohesive –last thing you want is conflicting branding.
All Twitch channel branding created by me.
Next was thinking about what I wanted my channel focus to be. I have a LOT of creative interests, and while I would love to do all the things, I wanted to really focus on what this channel was going to be about. I love streaming RPGs, platforms, and simulators but I didn’t want to go around hopping from game to game. Back in October the boo and I were rearranging our apartment to make room for our first new sofa and ottoman and he decided to, finally, condense his game collection so we could display it properly. Small aside: I don’t like to keep my games in their boxes because I have found that I enjoy condensing things when I can (makes it much easier to move) and so I put my games in CD sleeves, only keep the game books I really desire since game books inside the case are become a thing of the past, and put them in organizer boxes by system.
Since I now have much easier access to our entire game library (and I purchased a 3DS XL + Capture Card last year) I decided I would focus my streams to one game at a time so I could get through this giant gaming backlog. The first up is Yono and the Celestial Elephants, this game looks super adorable and I’ve been wanting to play it for forever, which should take me three streams to complete (its roughly 9 hours if you complete all of the side quests prior to finishing the story). I also plan on throwing in cross stitch streams to continue working on my Cross Stitch Pokedex challenge.
Currently the schedule I have mapped out is cross stitch streams every Saturday from 2PM – 4PM PST and gaming streams every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8PM – 11PM PST. I’m looking forward to seeing how many games I complete and I look forward to chatting with those of you who are able to join in the fun!
