It’s that time of year again! Summer Games announcements and showcases and today I wanted to cover the latest ones: Summer Games Fest and Day of the Devs 2024. But specifically wanted to talk about the games I’m looking forward to from what was announced, so let’s begin with Summer Games Fest 2024!
As someone who just loves LEGO video games I just have to play LEGO Horizon Adventures, I mean did you watch that trailer? It just looks so good and hilarious! Admittedly I haven’t gotten to play the Horizon video games yet but this just makes me want to jump in to them before it releases in Holiday 2024 on PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Deer & Boy looks like it’s going to be an emotional ride and I am going to be ready with a box of tissues day one. You can check their listing out on Steam to follow for updates.
Since the first trailer for Star Wars Outlaws I’ve been incredibly intrigued by the game and getting to see some new game play makes it hard to wait till it comes out on August 30, 2024 on PC, PS5, and Xbox.
Tea-making cozy game with a potential dark twist?? YES PLEASE! Knowing that this comes from the creators of Stanley Parable I know that this one is gonna be good. We don’t have a release date yet but it’s confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5 and Steam.
From the creators of Gris, Neva looks to give very similar aesthetic vibes. I’m curious on what we’ll experience but it won’t be a long wait as this is slated to release this year on PlayStation 5 and Steam.
Now let’s jump to Day of the Devs 2024!
Simpler Times is a lofi vibes title that is a “play at your own pace” experience meant to bring you some calm in your day. This one is actually out now on Steam and I can’t wait to dive in this weekend.
Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is the sequel to Cozy Grove coming to Netflix Games and Mobile! No release date yet but if befriending and assisting trouble spirits is your thing you can pre-order the game on Android and iOS right now so that you’re ready for the haunted island when it launches.
Koira is a narrative game told through music, sound, and puzzles where you free a puppy from a trap and work together to return home from the woods while avoiding hunters determined to capture the pup. If that is your jam (it sure is mine) Koira will be releasing on Steam in 2025.
Petal Runner has those beautiful hand held retro game vibes that I love with a bit of cyberpunk thrown in. It’s an RPG where you are a courier in this future city of Sapphire Valley delivering an energy product meant for AI pets called Hanapets and through your adventuring you’ll unravel an unexpected mystery along the way. If that sounds like your jam (as it is mine) you can wishlist the game on Steam.
UFO50 is by far the most unique game I’ve seen in a while. It features 50 games in 1 with the idea being that they are being released in universe by a game company called UFO Soft and you will play their collection of games from over the decades each with a unique style reminiscent of the time period that each launches in. I look forward to playing this on September 18 when it releases on Steam.
Hello Again is a cozy time-loop (think Groundhog Day) puzzle adventure game that just gives me so many good feels. It’s not slated to come out until sometime in 2025 but its worth keeping an eye on.
After Love EP was announced a while ago but I wanted to give it a shout out here because I’ve been looking forward to it’s release. After Love EP is about love, loss, and finding your own way forward and is slated for release on PC in Q3 2024 but if you don’t want to wait that long there is a demo out on steam!
