The days have started to blend together as we continue the self isolation and social distancing that went into affect last month. I am lucky in that I am spending this time with my boyfriend, Jared, and pup, Latte – she definitely doesn’t seem to mind as she gets more time with mom and dad. But all this time away from the hustle and bustle of the office, commute traffic, and swarms of people got me really missing going to Disney.
I know I know, first world problems and all that. But any time I felt down or burnt out my escape would be a Disney park, which are now closed indefinitely. So to get myself back into the Disney spirit, and a great excuse to write again, I wanted to take a look at all of my Disney Bounds over the past couple of years.
For those of you who don’t know what Disney Bounding is, it’s a way for older Disney fans to show their love for Disney in the parks by basing your everyday clothing around a Disney character. The term and idea was created by the wonderful Leslie Kay, who recently released a book all about it, due to teens and adults not being allowed to wear costumes in the park.
So let’s take a trip down memory lane!
Sully from Monsters Inc.
One of my first takes at Disney Bounding was a Sully from Monsters Inc. I tried to go with something simple and while I was happy with the result I wasn’t expecting how hot it got that day so this didn’t last very long.
Outfit: Purple Crop Sweater, Blue Long Sleeve Shirt, Purple Leggings, Spiked Headband.
Bo Peep from Toy Story
This outfit was based on Bo Peep from Toy Story (the first movie) and was definitely my most comfortable bound ever. I also started to feel more comfortable with posing at the parks and found a nice shaded spot to get this shot (thanks to my boo for capturing this!)
Outfit: Flowly Pink Top, Light Blue Capri Leggings, Flower stretch headband, and BoPeep Van Hightop Sneakers.
Ortensia the Cat
For those of you who don’t find this particular character in the photo familiar, this is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. He was one of Walt’s first animated creations and the loss of him resulted in the creation of Mickey Mouse. He is now back in the hands of the Walt Disney Company, where he belongs, and I always get so excited to see him in the parks (more Oswald things please Disney!)
This particular trip I decided to do a very low key Diseny Bound of Oswalds girlfriend Ortensia the Cat.
Outfit: Black short sleeve top, Pink leggings, and black low top Converse.
Iron Man
I found this dress on Amazon and as soon as I saw it I knew I just had to do an Iron Man Disney Bound. Once I found the bag it was a match made in heaven.
Outfit: Red Dress, Yellow Belt, Yellow Tights, and Tote Bag
Lilo
When I saw this dress at Hot Topic I knew I just had to get it and do a Lilo bound. I remember this day in particular because it was crazy hot (hence the cooling cloths) but I was happy to be wearing something that felt airy and didn’t cling in the heat.
Outfit: Lilo Dress, Mickey Fanny Pack, Rose Gold Sunglasses
Nick Wilde
Another dress moment. This time I tried my take on Nick Wilde from Zootopia by pulling together pieces I had in the house, it was a very last minute decision bound to pair with my boo’s Judy Hopp bound.
Dress: Green shirt dress (with pockets) and Blue/Red waist belt.
Ursula
I was so stoked to do this particular bound as I’m a huge fan of the Disney villans, Ursula is top 3! We got really lucky in that we were in the area when Ariel happened to show up for photos and we were able to capture our Little Mermaid bounds with the princess herself. She was very impressed with my take on Ursula and was obsessed with my Octopus necklace (can’t blame her though, it’s still one of my favorite pieces!)
Outfit: Black halter dress, Purple Fishnet tights, Black ankle boots, and Octopus necklace (Koala Art & Design).
Mal, Disney Descendants
And rounding this list off with daughter of the Evil Mistress Maleficent, it’s Mal from Disney Descendants! First off, how could I not bound as her? She has purple hair for crying out loud. This was my favorite rendition I’ve done of her as I put this outfit inspired by the 80s (went more punk rocker than preppy – fit her better) and surprisingly enough the sequin skirt was actually super comfortable an not at all irritating when walking around the parks.
All of these items I’m wearing were purchased on Amazon with the exception of the Dragon Necklace which was a gift from my friend Brie!
Outfit: Black Top, Pink Waist Belt, Purple Sequin Skirt, Purple long knitted Cardigan, Black fingerless gloves, Green fishnet tights, Black tights, and Black Hidden Wedge Ankle Boot shoes.
I’m looking forward to visiting the parks again and planning my next round of outfits. Until then I’ll be finding ways to show my Disney spirit at home and I’ll be sharing what I come up with with all of you here and on my Instagram!
